Guest reviews

  • Older travelers

friendly helpful staff.good bed and clean environment

bathroom and bedroom rather small and at the top of many stairs

  • Group of friends

St.Andrews Hotel is newly decorated and very clean. Arriving by car it is easy to find and leaving it, one is immediately back on to the motorways. Good access to Exeter city centre.

Nobody helped us to carry our lugguage up the stairs and there is no lift. It was too hot during the night, sheets not pure cotton, could not open the window because of the traffic noise. When leaving there was nobody at the reception desk, we left our keys and just left.No good buys!!

  • Older travelers

Facilities all excellent - newly refurbished. Excellent location for town centre and the Quayside - ample car parking..

Minor issue that it would be nicer to have the fruit juice, cereals and bread as a buffet style self service - rather than having to order each item separately.

  • Family with children

Obviously just refurbished, excellent bed and room lighting, clean and good towels. Our double was spacious, but the single was a tiny boxroom with a high-set window you could not look out of.

Location on a very busy main route out of town, a not very pleasant walk into the centre

  • Older travelers

The hotel was clean and comfortable.

The check-in times were severely restricted. On Sunday you could not book in from lunchtime until 6pm.

  • Older travelers

Long way up to our room for an elderley couple, we got no help with the bags.up 4 lots of stairs. The management didnt say goodbye on deptarting from hotel.

  • Family with children

The Hotel was beautifully clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and we felt at home there. They were also very accommodating at breakfast time and did their best to provide whatever we asked for to eat, which is important when you have small children in your party. The outside of the Hotel is smart and well kept which gives a welcoming image.

The only thing I don't like about Hotels in general is the intrusive noise of other guests at night. On this visit we were only aware of occasional doors banging, but on previous occasions we have been kept awake by others coming in at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning and talking very loudly

  • Older travelers

It was clean, quiet and pleasant. Good breakfasts.

Not the fault of the hotel, but the noise from the street was more than we are used to.

  • Group of friends

Very clean friendly staff at breakfast

Terrible welcome wanted paid straight away, no cheerio come again on leaving, room very warm and when you open window its very noisy with traffic.

  • Older travelers

Very nice clean guest house close to city center and walking to riverside shops and pubs. Beautifully renovated with modern touches.

Would not recommend room on third floor in summer as it was a bit too warm and didn't find air conditioning.

  • Older travelers

Very disappointed it is not 4 star rating. Bedrooms small and bed not very comfortable. Welcome tray basic. Staff minimal and not present. We walked out of the hotel after our stay and no one around to say goodbye.

  • Group of friends

The hotel was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the quayside area and of the city centre.

  • Group of friends

Recently renovated to very high standard. Super staff, lovely rooms and central location. Most other Hotels in Exeter charge about £8 parking and £12 breakfast, so this was a great value Hotel and only 10 mins walk into the city!

Only downside was the noisy neighbours partying all night, not the hotels fault!

  • Couple

Very clean and secure, free parking available on site

Was a bit too warm even though only a mild day (at best) and 15 degree evening - fortunately room faced the rear, so could open window and get good night sleep, as road is noisy for front-facing rooms if window opened.

  • Single

The Hotel was clean. Nice english breakfast. Hotel staff was friendly. I will go back when I go to Exeter again.
